Antique French confit pot, hand-thrown terracotta from the Southwest of France, used historically for preserving duck and goose confit. Rich, mottled ochre-to-brown glaze covers the upper body and interior, while the lower portion remains unglazed raw terracotta — the traditional construction that allowed these pots to be partially buried in cool earth for food preservation. Bulbous rounded form with twin ear-shaped loop handles at the shoulder. A beautiful, authentic piece of French country history — lovely displayed on its own, as a rustic planter, or holding dried flowers or kitchen utensils. 10" diameter x 10" tall. Please note a hairline surface crack visible near the rim (see detail photo) and general wear/glaze variation consistent with age.
