An authentic 1960s rocking chair designed by Angel Pazmiño for Muebles de Estilo in Ecuador. This piece is a premier example of Latin American Modernism, distinguished by its sculptural solid wood frame and intricate, hand-tooled saddle leather.
The heavy-gauge leather sling back and seat feature rare, high-relief scenes identifying the artisan heritage of "Cotacachi," a renowned leather-working region in Ecuador. The scenes depict traditional figurative motifs and lush landscapes, framed by complex geometric borders. The leather has aged to a deep, sophisticated espresso tone, offering a beautiful contrast to the warm, amber-finished wood frame.
Featuring signature oversized peg joinery and a wide, stable rocker base, this chair is as much a piece of functional sculpture as it is a comfortable seat. It is a perfect addition to a space curated with Mid-Century Modern, Brutalist, or Global Organic influences.
