An exceptional original mid-century modern expandable dining table designed by Merton Gershun for the prestigious American of Martinsville. Part of one of the company's most coveted mid-century lines, this piece features the highly recognizable, inlaid brushed nickel "X" accent motifs flush-mounted into the four corners of the tabletop.

Crafted from premium American walnut, the table boasts a beautiful straight-grain top pattern, clean geometric apron lines, and sleek tapered legs. This incredibly clever design is a masterclass in mid-century versatility: in its unextended form, it functions as a compact and space-saving 36-inch square table. When the two included 12-inch matching extension leaves are inserted, it expands into a 60-inch rectangular dining table that comfortably hosts six guests.

A sophisticated and functional anchor piece representing the apex of 1950s/1960s American furniture manufacturing.

The pictured matching dining chairs are also available, listed separately.

Expect minor, light surface scuffs on the lower legs consistent with age and gentle use, which do not detract from the table's elegant presentation.
