A striking vintage lithographic poster from Pablo Picasso’s renowned "Portraits Imaginaires" (Imaginary Portraits) suite. While the image is plate-dated "1956," this series was famously produced in 1969 in collaboration with master printmaker Marcel Salinas.

The "Imaginary Portraits" series represents the pinnacle of Picasso’s late-career vitality. At age 87, inspired by a delivery of art supplies, Picasso began painting expressive, vibrant portraits directly onto corrugated cardboard and packing paper. This specific work depicts a "Musketeer"—a recurring motif in his final years—characterized by bold, gestural lines and a vivid primary palette of azure, crimson, and golden yellow.

Salinas hand-reproduced these works onto lithographic blocks under Picasso’s guidance, capturing the raw, tactile energy of the original paintings. This framed version offers a powerful graphic presence, showcasing the evolution of Picasso’s style into a highly innovative, free-form Abstract Expressionism.

While this lithograph was printed in 1969 as part of the Salinas collaboration, the '1956' plate date signifies the work's conceptual origins in Picasso's famed 'Old Master' series. It serves as a bridge between his mid-century deconstructions and his final, explosive years of creativity.

Presented in a minimalist black metal frame, this piece is an iconic addition to any collection of 20th-century art and fits perfectly in Mid-Century Modern or Postmodern interiors.
